Benjamin Banneker, originally Banna Ka, or even Bannakay (November 9, 1731 – October 9, 1806) was an African-American astronomer, clockmaker, and publisher, and was instrumental within surveying a District of Columbia.
Benjamin Banneker's mother was Mary Bannakay, whose mother, Molly Welsh, was accused of stealing milk & sent from either England to America following. She became the creator of a domestic & married one of her slaves, whom she discharged.
Benjamin's father, Robert Bannakay, built the series of dams and watercourses that with success irrigated the family farm, where Banneker lived virtually all of his life. Banneker was taught to review & wash elementary arithmetic by his grandmother & by the Quaker schoolmaster, who changed his title to Banneker. Another time he was old plenty to help in his parents' domestic, his formal education ended.
